GODLY FAMILY DYNAMICS

In the world of today it can seem harder than ever to live a Godly life, but when it comes to your family you must put the Lord first! Seek His guidance in everything.

Your spouse comes next & your children third. Yes, you read that right. You've made a commitment to your husband or wife, to stand beside them through it all, while your children are destined to be apart from you.

We've seen so many marriages fall apart once children come into the home, but that's not the way it has to be! That isn't the way the Lord designed it.

Prioritize your spouse, the quality of the time you spend with them, & realize you're tied to them in a physical & spiritual capacity.

You are to love and care for your children, but in a way that prepares them for independence. They're to go off and live for God on the path He has for them. Your spouse has a different bond with you, one that is to be held above that of the one you have with your children.

Verses to Ponder:

Ephesians 5:33 (NIV), 33 However, each one of you also must love his wife as he loves himself, and the wife must respect her husband.

Ephesians 6:4 (NIV), 4 Fathers, do not exasperate your children; instead, bring them up in the training and instruction of the Lord.

Consider the way you treat your family:

  • Are you training your children to bring glory to the Lord? To live independently one day?

  • Do you treat your spouse as the Lord would have you?

  • If you're a child whose parents are still alive, do you respect them the way the Lord has commanded?

We don't always get along with our family members, sometimes we're even very hurt by them, but that isn't license to ignore God & what He's instructed we should do.

If you have difficulty with family bring the problems to the Lord & allow Him to show you a path forward.
